Meeting Climate Action Plan Goals

Boulder’s 2006 Climate Action Plan mandates a decrease in carbon dioxide emissions in line with the Kyoto Protocol: to below 1990 levels by 2012. To do its part in meeting this goal, the residential sector must achieve just over 50% greater efficiency in natural gas and electricity use. The remainder of the way may be made through renewable energy supply – principally photovoltaic electricity. We believe that by continuing these trends beyond 2012, it is reasonable to achieve zero emissions in Boulder by 2030.
